South Africa

Scotland currently has 114 South African Twins. The twins are supported with an annual contribution and special donations.

Student Scholarships

The sponsorship of Indian Students continues to flourish. Until this year our Scottish conferences have sponsored Students for one year Vocational courses and for three year Technical courses. We are now offering two additional areas of sponsorship to our conferences - the VIDYA JOTHI scheme by which we can help Indian conferences who have adopted a child who otherwise would not have the opportunity to be educated. THE HIGHER EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP is the other new area of Student Sponsorship which will allow us to sponsor Engineering and Medical Students over a five-year period. Details of these areas of Student Sponsorship can be found in the recent brochures distributed to all conferences.

Mobility in Europe

Over the last months Ian Tierney has been attending Diocesan and Group meetings throughout Scotland to speak about THE MOBILITY IN EUROPE PROJECT. This project, funded by the European Union, offers members of the SSVP Society over the age of 50 years the opportunity to go on study-trips to other European countries where they can study projects being carried out there which may possibly be developed in their own conferences and dioceses on their return.

India

Scotland currently has 299 Indian Twins. The twins are supported with an annual contribution and special donations.

Projects

Since October 2008, 13 new Indian Projects have been accepted for funding by the Society in Scotland. These are very varied in nature, including house maintenance, Computing, Cow-Rearing, and other Self- Help projects.
