Getting ready for Christmas can be quite a pressure. Trying to get cards done, presents bought, then a card comes in the post and you realise you forgot to send that person a card! Then there’s all the food shopping, school plays ……the list goes on.
The response to the psalm for the 4th Sunday is Advent jolts us back into focus. “Let the Lord enter; He is the King of Glory”.
Mary and Joseph, like all expectant parents, would have spent lots of time preparing for their baby. When the arrived at the stable in Bethlehem and realised Jesus was about to be born, they took an animal food trough, cleared it out and prepared a crib for Him.
We began these Advent reflections asking, “What can I give Him? ……..give my HEART!”
In these last few days of Advent, of waiting, take time to look into your heart. What needs to be cleared out so that, like the psalmist you can can say, “Let the Lord enter; He is the King of Glory.”
Let’s pray for each other in these last precious day of Advent 2025, that in the midst of the frills of Christmas preparations we might truly prepare our hearts to receive our Lord Jesus this Christmas.
United in prayer,
Sr Maria x
