Paisley Pupil’s Olive Tree Becomes a Living Message of Peace

Pupils at St Thomas’ Primary in Neilston have been busy growing both faith and friendship through their latest community project.
The school’s Primary 6 Mini Vinnies group, who take on a new act of service each
month, recently planted an olive tree in the school grounds. This was chosen as a
symbol to represent peace and harmony. The children decorated the planter with the
words Peace and Friendship, alongside the school’s core values of Love, Faith and
Understanding.
Theresa and Frank from the St Vincent de Paul Society, who visit the group monthly,
supported the project. Staff say their guidance is helping the young volunteers
develop confidence, compassion and leadership as they put their faith into action.
