SSVP 1833 at Glasgow University
SSVP Youth includes our Mini Vinnies and Senior Vinnies school
programmes, and we’re also growing our SSVP 1833 groups to
support young adults aged 18–35 on their Vincentian journey.
Our new National Youth Development Coordinator recently met up with
the Glasgow University SSVP1833 Conference. This group of inspiring
young adults are living their faith through action.
The Glasgow group shared some of the impactful ways they’re serving
their local community. This includes weekly street outreach supporting
individuals experiencing homelessness, where members offer
refreshments, hygiene packs, and signposting to services. During the
winter months, they distribute essential night kits including hand
warmers and thermal wraps to provide warmth and comfort.
Their commitment doesn’t stop there. The group also runs a 10-week
literacy tutoring programme in two local primary schools, using reading
activities and games to support pupils—particularly those with English as
an additional language.
Alongside these projects, the students volunteer at a local clothes bank
and regularly take part in fundraising initiatives to sustain and expand
their efforts.
